Clough Confirms Brunt as Mansfield’s Top Target

Lewis Brunt, a defender for Leicester City, has recently become a top target for Mansfield Town this summer. The Stags are eager to sign the 23-year-old on a permanent deal after a successful loan spell last season that helped them secure promotion to League Two. Despite having an opening bid rejected, Mansfield remain determined to bring Brunt on board.

Brunt, who has a year left on his Leicester contract, played 40 games for Mansfield in all competitions last season. Manager Nigel Clough confirmed that negotiations are ongoing and that Brunt is their number one target for the summer transfer window. Although there may be differences in valuation, Clough emphasized that they will not give up on signing Brunt.

Clough also mentioned the possibility of a loan deal if a permanent transfer does not work out. He highlighted Brunt’s potential to continue performing well in League One and increase his value to Leicester in the future. In addition to their interest in Brunt, Mansfield have also made other signings such as Australia midfielder Keanu Baccus, full-back Frazer Blake-Tracy, and the return of striker Lee Gregory after 13 years.
