Co-op has recently announced a new partnership with Walmart to utilize the Store Assist online fulfilment technology in its operations. This move is aimed at enhancing the customer experience and helping Co-op achieve its target of capturing more than a one-third share of the quick commerce market. With the Store Assist app, retailers can efficiently manage pickup, third-party marketplace, ship-from-store, and last-mile delivery orders all in one place.

George Hayworth, Co-op’s head of online development, emphasized the company’s focus on growing its share of the quick commerce market through both its own online shop and strategic partnerships. The goal is to provide ease, speed, and convenience to customers from local stores that are located in the heart of communities. By working closely with Walmart Commerce Technologies to implement this new technology, Co-op aims to support its continued growth while enhancing the quick and reliable service that is important to its member-owners and customers.

Through its quick commerce operations, Co-op now estimates that more than 80% of the UK population has access to Co-op groceries either through its own online shop or via partners like Just Eat, Uber Eats, and Deliveroo. This expansion of reach and convenience highlights Co-op’s commitment to meeting the evolving needs of its customers and growing its presence in the online grocery market.
