The Buccaneers are reportedly planning to sign former Giants wide receiver Sterling Shepard, but they have already announced the addition of another wideout to their roster before finalizing the deal with Shepard. The team confirmed that Cody Thompson has been signed to their 90-man roster.

Thompson, who had a limited role with the Seahawks last season, recorded one catch for 10 yards in seven games. He also contributed on special teams with two tackles and played in five games in 2021, but missed the entire 2022 season due to injury. With Thompson’s addition, the Buccaneers now have 12 receivers on their roster.

Once Shepard’s signing is official, the Buccaneers will have a total of 13 wide receivers unless they release another player to make room for him on the roster. This move adds depth to the team’s receiving corps and provides more options for their offense in the upcoming season.
