The Big 12 is undergoing significant changes as it prepares to add schools from the “Four Corners” states, bidding farewell to longtime members Oklahoma and Texas. The league enters the 2024 season with new coaches, bringing a fresh look to the conference. Among the twelve incumbent programs, only Houston will see a change in leadership, with Willie Fritz taking over as head coach from Tulane.

Utah’s Kyle Whittingham is one of the most successful coaches joining from the Pac-12, while Deion Sanders will garner attention as he leads Colorado back into the Big 12. Arizona and Arizona State also have new coaches in Brent Brennan and Kenny Dillingham, respectively, all eager to make their mark in the Power Four.

Despite some ranking Sanders as one of the worst coaches in FBS, expectations are high for the new coaching additions in the Big 12. The league boasts several established coaches with a track record of success, contributing to a competitive landscape among the conference. With eight coaches ranked among the top 30 in the CBS Sports Power Four coach rankings, the Big 12 is positioned for an exciting and challenging season ahead.

As the 2024 season approaches, the Big 12’s coaching lineup represents a mix of stability and fresh faces. Sanders will be looking to prove his critics wrong and establish himself as a force to be reckoned with in the competitive Big 12 coaching ranks.
