On Sunday, April 28 from 1-5 p.m., there will be complementary health services and health and wellness-related information available outside the Student Recreation Center. The event is organized by the Health Sciences and Technology Academy, Minorities Association of Pre-Healthcare Students, and the Student National Medical Association. The Community Health Walk will start at 2:30 p.m. followed by a run at 3:30 p.m.
Attendees can look forward to a variety of health screenings and educational displays. Services will include oxygen screenings and a healthy vs. unhealthy lung display by the WVU Medicine Children’s Transport Team, blood pressure and nutritional screenings by Project REACH, and diabetes prevention/exercise promotion education by the WVU Student Nurses’ Association.
Gregory Epps, advisor to the sponsoring student organizations, shared that the goal of the event is to provide a space where people can enjoy the festivities while receiving valuable services and information that can benefit their personal health and wellness. The Expo is made possible with support from the WVU Health Sciences Center, WVU Medicine, the NASAWV Space Grant Consortium, and other campus and community partners.
