Construction of temporary port to supply aid to Gaza to begin soon in US

The United States announced this Tuesday that it will soon begin constructing a temporary port to supply aid to the Gaza Strip. Nearly 34,200 people have died in the Israeli offensive against the Palestinian enclave, controlled by Hamas.

Pentagon spokesman General Patrick Ryder stated in a press conference that all necessary ships are ready in the Mediterranean region to start construction. He mentioned that coordination with partners who will support the initiative is crucial.

The aid will be transported to the dock by American ships and then loaded into non-military trucks belonging to humanitarian NGOs. Israel’s restrictions on the delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza are causing a severe crisis, leaving the Palestinian population without reserves. They are not only dying under bombs but also beginning to suffer from starvation and disease.
