Cooperation between Vietnam and Korea to foster startup ecosystem

KoreaVietnam’s Ministry of Science and Technology and the Korean Ministry of Small and Medium Enterprises and Startups (MSS) recently signed a memorandum of understanding to enhance cooperation in developing the startup ecosystem. The memorandum outlines 10 articles focused on collaboration in scientific research, technology development, innovation, startups, human resource training, and related fields. The agreement includes provisions for information exchange, organizing seminars, conferences, exhibitions, joint research projects, and human resource training.

Under this MoU, the two Ministries will provide training and guidance for young staff members on technology, entrepreneurship, and innovation. They will also exchange information on research materials, teaching materials, and reference materials related to technology and innovation. Additionally, the Ministry of Science and Technology of Vietnam and MSS will work together to promote technology exchange and training, facilitate the exchange of entrepreneurs, researchers, lecturers, students, and experts in the startup ecosystem.

The signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding was attended by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and South Korean Prime Minister Han Duck Soo. This agreement marks a significant milestone in enhancing cooperation, promoting the startup ecosystem, and exchanging human resources between the two countries. This collaboration builds on previous agreements and initiatives aimed at strengthening ties between Vietnam and Korea in various sectors, including startup development and innovation.

In line with the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between Vietnam and Korea, the Ministry of Science and Technology and MSS have been actively working to support the innovative startup ecosystem. Through various agreements and partnerships, both countries are exploring opportunities for training, knowledge-sharing, capacity-building, and open innovation. The launch of the Korea Startup Center (KSC) in Hanoi has further facilitated collaboration and exchange between Vietnamese and Korean startups.

Looking ahead, the focus will remain on fostering innovation, creating opportunities for technology enterprises, and promoting collaboration between Vietnamese and Korean entities. Initiatives such as the National Techfest, cooperation with the Korea Small and Medium Enterprise Development Agency (KOSME), and partnerships with organizations like the Korea Innovation Foundation (Innopolis) will continue to drive progress in the startup ecosystem.

As both countries navigate the challenges and opportunities presented by the digital age, cooperation in areas like startup development, innovation, and technology exchange will play a crucial role in shaping the future landscape of entrepreneurship and industry in Vietnam and Korea. The Memorandum of Understanding signed between the Ministry of Science and Technology and MSS underscores the commitment to building a thriving startup ecosystem and fostering collaboration between the two nations.
