In the game between the Texas Rangers and the Seattle Mariners on Wednesday night, Rangers shortstop Corey Seager had to leave the game after the seventh inning due to a left shin contusion. Seager was hit by a pitch in the inning and was attended to by the medical staff after taking first base. Despite being hit, Seager remained in the game for the rest of the inning.
After the game, Rangers manager Bruce Bochy commented that Seager’s left shin had swelled up significantly and quickly. He mentioned that Seager’s status for the following day’s game will depend on how Seager is feeling in the morning. It is unclear at this time whether Seager will be able to play in the next game.
This injury comes after Seager missed most of spring training due to sports hernia surgery he underwent on January 30. The 2023 World Series MVP will be closely monitored by the Rangers’ medical staff to determine the extent of his injury and when he will be able to return to the field.
