The Coronado coastline was reopened to the public on Tuesday after an improvement in water quality samples, as announced by the county Department of Environmental Health and Quality. Initially, the Coronado beach area had been closed on Sunday due to high levels of bacteria. However, by late Monday afternoon, DEHQ officials confirmed that samples now met state health standards.

Despite the reopening of Coronado, closures were still in effect for other coastlines with elevated bacteria levels. These included Tijuana Slough, Imperial Beach, and Silver Strand from the International Border to south of Avenida Lunar. Officials warned the public to steer clear of water contact in these areas as sewage contamination could cause illness.

The advisory to avoid water contact also extended to the La Jolla Children’s Pool and Ocean Beach’s dog beach, according to the county. It is important for beachgoers to stay informed about the water quality in order to ensure the safety and well-being of all individuals enjoying these coastal areas.
