The Steelers have made significant changes to their quarterback depth chart at the start of the offseason. As they continue to prepare for the 2024 season, they are looking to add a strong No. 2 receiver who can catch passes from the new quarterbacks. Mark Kaboly of TheAthletic.com believes that the Steelers will make this addition before the season starts.

Currently, the candidates being considered for the position across from George Pickens include Van Jefferson, Quez Watkins, Cordarrelle Patterson, Calvin Austin III, Scotty Miller, Marquez Callaway, and Denzel Mims. There is also rookie third-rounder Roman Wilson, who may quickly develop into this role.

Although there aren’t many top free-agent options available, names like Michael Thomas, Hunter Renfrow, Corey Davis, and possibly Julio Jones could be considered. Although a trade is still a possibility, Brandon Aiyuk’s high contract demands and the passing of the 2024 draft may have closed that opportunity.

With the potential for another veteran receiver to become available or be cut during camp, the Steelers need to act quickly to get the new addition up to speed. Without the benefit of offseason workouts or a full training camp, it may be challenging for a new receiver to make an immediate impact on the team.
