Courtland Sutton has been absent from the voluntary portion of the Broncos’ offseason program, but head coach Sean Payton is optimistic that the wide receiver will be present at the upcoming mandatory minicamp. Sutton himself confirmed in an interview with DNVR Sports that he intends to attend the minicamp despite missing OTAs.

In the interview, Sutton expressed his passion for the game of football and how difficult it has been for him to be away from the team during OTAs. He emphasized his dedication to preparation and competition, highlighting his commitment to the sport. Despite the challenges of this unique offseason, Sutton is eager to return to the field and participate in team activities.

However, there are financial consequences for missing the mandatory minicamp, with fines amounting to approximately $100,000. Sutton’s absence from team workouts has been attributed to his desire for a new contract with a pay raise. He has been working out independently in Florida instead of joining his teammates at the training facility.

While Sutton still has two years remaining on his current contract, he is seeking adjustments to his deal due to the limited guaranteed money left in the agreement. Despite the trade requests from Sutton, the Broncos have reportedly shown no intention of dealing the talented receiver, despite receiving interest from other teams. Sutton’s future with the Broncos remains uncertain as he navigates contract negotiations and team expectations.
