Cowboys’ OTAs proceed without Micah Parsons

The Dallas Cowboys have kicked off their Organized Team Activities (OTAs), but one notable absence is star linebacker Micah Parsons. According to Clarence Hill of the Star-Telegram, Parsons did not attend the opening of OTAs. Parsons, who is seeking a new contract, joins wide receiver CeeDee Lamb as key players who are not participating in OTAs as they negotiate new deals.

While Lamb’s absence from voluntary work was expected, the Cowboys were hoping that Parsons would show up. Despite his agent stating in April that his absence was not contract-related, it is clear that Parsons is looking for a long-term deal from the Cowboys.

Since being drafted with the 12th overall pick in 2021, the 24-year-old Parsons has quickly established himself as one of the best defensive players in the NFL. With two years remaining on his rookie contract, Parsons is set to earn just under $3 million this year and $21.3 million next year. The Cowboys will likely prioritize negotiating a new deal with Parsons to keep their standout linebacker happy and on the team for years to come.
