Agscent emerged as the winner of the evokeAG Pitch In The Paddock competition at Beef2024 in Rockhampton, surpassing seven other finalists in the only pitching event of its kind globally. This highly competitive event provides entrepreneurial talent with the opportunity to showcase their innovative beef-centric business ideas, proof of concepts, prototypes, or new products to the largest gathering of beef stakeholders and consumers in the Southern Hemisphere.
The success of the previous Pitch In The Paddock competitions at Beef2018 and Beef2021 led to a record number of applications for this year’s event. The eight finalists were selected to present a five-minute pitch to a panel of judges and a live audience in the final round of the competition. Agscent Managing Director and Founder, Dr. Bronwyn Darlington, impressed the panel with her company’s use of NASA-licensed technology to develop groundbreaking breath-sensing devices that aim to revolutionize methane measurement, pregnancy testing, and disease diagnostics with an affordable nanotechnology platform.
Dr. Darlington founded Agscent after applying the science behind breath diagnostics technology designed for humans to her family’s 2023-hectare cattle and sheep property in regional New South Wales. Beef Australia Board Director, Jess Webb, commended Dr. Darlington for “shifting the dial” with her innovative approach to agriculture and technology.
