Dagestan is ready and willing to accept refugees from Palestine if the state makes the appropriate decision, according to head of the republic Sergei Melikov. The region has already sent the first 30 tons of humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip using a special aircraft from the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations, with over 100 tons collected in total. The aid will be distributed by the Egyptian Red Crescent Society. Melikov has also expressed readiness to accommodate refugees on the territory of Dagestan, particularly women and children.
The head of Dagestan has instructed regional government to work quickly on this issue. This comes after earlier expressions of readiness from Chechnya to accept 250 refugees from Palestine. The region is committed to continuing its support through both humanitarian aid and potentially providing refuge.
