Apple has urgently released a security update to address a bug that was causing deleted photos on iPhones and iPads to reappear. The iOS 17.5.1 patch was issued after reports of photos reappearing on devices’ camera rolls, even years after they were deleted. Apple has acknowledged the issue as a rare one caused by database corruption.

Singapore Airlines CEO Goh Choon Phong has publicly apologized after a flight from Heathrow Airport to Singapore was hit by extreme turbulence. Sadly, a British man named Geoff Kitchen, 73, from Bristol, passed away from a suspected heart attack during the incident. Seven others were seriously injured, with dozens more sustaining minor wounds. The plane experienced a sudden drop in altitude over Myanmar due to severe thunderstorms in the area.

In response to Britain’s contaminated blood scandal, the government has proposed providing more than £2 million in compensation to individuals infected with deadly viruses, including HIV and hepatitis C, from blood transfusions or blood products. This scandal resulted in over 3,000 deaths and more than 30,000 infections, making it one of the worst treatment disasters in NHS history.

In other news, a German-built rocket has successfully undergone a test-firing on the Shetland Islands in preparation for its first space launch later this year. Nasa has also revealed plans for a plasma-powered rocket that could potentially transport human explorers to Mars in just two months.
