The Danville District 118 School Board has recently approved a budget of $76,100 for a new science program designed for students in fifth through eighth grades. The pilot program, titled “Amplify Science,” will be implemented at multiple schools including North Ridge Middle School, South View Upper Elementary School, Kenneth D. Bailey Academy, and Northeast Magnet School. District Director of Curriculum MaryEllen Bunton explained that the program aims to engage students by presenting them with challenges and encouraging them to explore potential solutions.

During a meeting on Wednesday, July 3rd, District 118 Director of Curriculum MaryEllen Bunton shared more information about the new science program. She emphasized the importance of allowing students to actively participate in problem-solving activities rather than providing them with all the answers. The materials used in the program are designed to spark curiosity and provide students with a solid academic foundation. District 118 plans to introduce the pilot program in the upcoming fall semester.
