Amari Cooper, wide receiver for the Cleveland Browns, is looking to secure a lucrative contract this year. One cornerback who has faced off against him believes that Cooper is deserving of a bigger payday. Darius Slay, of the Philadelphia Eagles, expressed his belief on the Green Light with Chris Long podcast that Cooper is often overlooked and undervalued in the NFL.
Slay commended Cooper for his consistency on the field, no matter which team he plays for or who is throwing him the ball. Even when catching passes from Joe Flacco last season, Cooper remained a reliable target. Slay specifically called out the Cleveland Browns for not offering Cooper the financial compensation he deserves, stating that they need to prioritize paying him what he is worth.
While Browns General Manager Andrew Berry and coach Kevin Stefanski have acknowledged the value Cooper brings to the team, they have not yet met his contract demands. Slay firmly believes that Cooper’s contributions warrant a significant pay raise and hopes that the Browns will recognize and reward his talent accordingly.
