David Iacono has joined Scarlett Johansson in Universal’s upcoming Jurassic World movie. The ensemble cast also includes Mahershala Ali, Jonathan Bailey, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, Rupert Friend, and Luna Blaise. The project is set to begin production in mid-June in London, with Gareth Edwards directing.
Iacono will also be appearing in Jennifer Esposito’s directorial debut, Fresh Kills. He recently starred in Netflix’s Dead Boy Detectives and Amazon Prime Video’s The Summer I Turned Pretty. Other credits include Tubi and Village Roadshow’s thriller Cinnamon, and he played Eli Briscoe in season two of HBO Max’s The Flight Attendant.
In addition to his film work, Iacono has appeared in TV shows like Blue Bloods, The Good Doctor, New Amsterdam, Strangers, NCIS: New Orleans, The Blacklist: Redemption, and Show Me a Hero. The new Jurassic World movie’s storyline is being kept under wraps, but it is expected to feature dinosaurs and a completely new plot. The screenplay is being written by David Koepp, original screenwriter of Jurassic Park and The Lost World: Jurassic Park.
The movie is scheduled to be released in theaters on July 2, 2025, and is executive produced by Steven Spielberg through Amblin Entertainment. The film follows the success of Universal Pictures and Amblin Entertainment’s previous six movies in the franchise, which have collectively earned over $6 billion worldwide. The project is being overseen by executive vp of production development Sara Scott and creative executive of production development Jacqueline Garell for Universal.
Iacono is represented by Rebel Creative Group, Take 3 Talent Agency, Vainshtein Law, P.C., and imPRint.
