Day 4 Live Blog for the 2023 World Championship

Day 4 of the Senior World Championships in Belgrade saw the participation of four new American women on the mat, with two of them wrestling for the gold medal. The men’s freestyle tournament also concluded. Team USA (USA #1) emerged as the winners of the tournament.

Some heavy hitters from Team USA competed today, including Sarah Hildebrandt at 50kg, Helen Maroulis at 57kg, Macy Quilty at 65kg, and Adeline Gray at 76kg. Kyle Snyder also secured a bronze medal and a chance to compete for a spot in the Olympics in the 97kg weight class.

In the 65kg weight class, Japan’s Takuto Otoguro withdrew from the first repechage, resulting in him not qualifying for Japan’s Olympics. Macy Quilty from the USA faced off against Valeria Dondupova from AIN. Quilty quickly took control of the match and defeated Dondupova, advancing to the round of 16. Adeline Gray faced Jimin Baek from South Korea and secured a victory, advancing to the next round.

Kyle Snyder faced Magomed Ibragimov from UZB in the 97kg weight class. After a tough match, Snyder emerged as the winner, securing a spot in the bronze medal match. Helen Maroulis competed against Ness Rodriguez from Peru at 57kg and dominated the match, securing a pinfall victory.

In another match, Macy Quilty faced Drazi from ALB in the 65kg weight class. Quilty showcased her skills and secured a tech fall victory, advancing to the quarterfinals.

Overall, it was an exciting day for Team USA at the Senior World Championships, with several wrestlers showcasing their talent and advancing in the tournament.
