During this year’s NFL Draft, one of the hottest topics was the potential trade of 49ers’ star wide receiver Deebo Samuel. While there were rumors of trade interests from the Pittsburgh Steelers, no deal came through due to the 49ers’ high asking price. Samuel confirmed that conversations did take place but ultimately he remains part of the 49ers. He expressed his determination to move past the talks and focus on improving.

Despite having two years left on his current contract, there have been discussions that the 49ers could potentially trade Samuel to save money against the salary cap. However, it seems unlikely given his importance to the team. Throughout all the speculation, Samuel has maintained his focus on football. He has been actively participating in team activities such as minicamp and voluntary OTA sessions, unlike his teammate Brandon Aiyuk. Samuel emphasized that he is committed to the team for this season.

The 49ers are aiming to end their 30-year championship drought and are relying on their core group of players to achieve this goal. This group includes Samuel, Aiyuk, Jauan Jennings, Brock Purdy, George Kittle, Trent Williams, Kyle Juszczyk, Nick Bosa, Javon Hargrave, Charvarius Ward, and Christian McCaffrey. McCaffrey recently signed a record-setting two-year contract extension. With such a talented roster, the 49ers are optimistic about their chances in the upcoming season.
