Deloitte has recently acquired a disease surveillance business to support its growth in the field of public health transformation. CasePointer, founded by End Point in 2008, was developed as open source software to assist public health agencies in working with epidemiological data. With the acquisition of CasePointer, Deloitte’s team of technologists and public health specialists will collaborate with clients to address their modernization and surveillance needs. The specific terms of the transaction were not disclosed, but Deloitte plans to integrate its GovConnect digital assets with CasePointer’s tools, including the EpiTrax platform for managing data on diseases and health hazards.
This acquisition follows Deloitte’s purchase of Gryphon Scientific in April, another public health-focused company specializing in using artificial intelligence and data to respond to infectious diseases. Jason Salzetti, leader of Deloitte’s government and public services practice, emphasized that the acquisition of CasePointer aligns with the firm’s investments and supports its expansion into new markets. One notable investment from Deloitte is the development of generative artificial intelligence tools for health and human services agencies, first announced in September 2023. These tools aim to assist state and local government clients in improving the delivery of benefits and services to citizens.
