The Democratic Party heavyweights and some Democratic parliamentarians are starting to publicly question Joe Biden’s fitness status, but the White House continues to pour water on the fire. Lloyd Doggett, a Texas Democrat, wrote at midday that he hopes Biden makes the difficult decision to resign. He is the first Democratic congressman to publicly ask the president to step down after a disastrous televised debate against Republican rival Donald Trump. Doggett added that it is legitimate to question whether this is a temporary episode or a lasting state of affairs.

Nancy Pelosi, former Speaker of the House of Representatives and Democratic heavyweight, has also expressed concerns about Biden’s health. Meanwhile, Trump has scored another victory in the courtrooms as the Manhattan prosecutor’s office has decided to postpone a ruling in the ‘Stormy Daniels’ case until September. The former president faces up to 4 years in prison.

The White House is pushing back against concerns about Biden’s health, with the spokesperson denying that he would undergo a cognitive test or that he has Alzheimer’s or dementia. Despite this, many Democrats are questioning Biden’s ability to continue as president. Reporters have been asking questions during regular press briefings, and there is growing doubt about Biden’s candidacy among party members.

A CNN poll released Tuesday found that 75 percent of voters believe the party would have a better chance in November with a candidate other than Joe Biden. Trump is currently leading in voting intentions nationwide. The New York Times reported Tuesday that people close to the president have noted changes in his behavior, sparking concerns about his mental state. Questions about the president’s fitness have continued to circulate, with some Democrats calling for more transparency from the White House.

In the midst of these concerns, the White House is promising a personal press conference at the NATO summit and conversations with Democratic officials and lawmakers. Despite the pushback from the White House, the questions about Biden’s health and candidacy are growing louder within the party.
