Deployment of Viridien OBN Technology on Seismic Survey in the North Sea

Viridien’s Sensing & Monitoring business line recently completed the sale and delivery of a GPR300 ocean-bottom nodal system for approximately $20 million. The technology will be utilized by an undisclosed company for an upcoming seismic survey project in the North Sea. Viridien reports that the Sercel GPR nodes incorporate QuietSeis MEMS technology, providing enhanced signal sensing capabilities, fidelity, and quiet performance that surpass traditional OBN equipment for subsurface imaging.

The GPR300 system is capable of operating in shallow-water depths of up to 300 meters, and its lightweight design allows for easier manual handling, deployment, and retrieval. It is a valuable tool for marine survey projects requiring precise data collection and analysis. It’s noteworthy that CGG, the parent company of Viridien, recently rebranded and changed its corporate name to further align with its evolving business objectives and offerings.

Overall, the GPR300 ocean-bottom nodal system represents cutting-edge technology that is set to significantly enhance the efficiency and accuracy of seismic survey projects. Its advanced features and capabilities make it a valuable asset for companies seeking reliable and high-quality data for their offshore operations.
