Former MLB outfielder and current Detroit Tigers broadcaster Craig Monroe has been absent from the broadcast booth for about a month after being accused of sexually assaulting a woman when she was a minor. Monroe, the lead analyst for the Tigers on Bally Sports Detroit, has not been on air since June 9. The team and the network issued a joint statement addressing the allegations, stating that Monroe will not be on the broadcast schedule indefinitely.

The accusations against Monroe surfaced on social media, with the woman claiming that the abuse began when she was 12 years old and continued into her adult life. She stated that she initially reached out to both the network and the team with her claims, but received no response, leading her to post them on social media. Monroe played nine MLB seasons, including more than five with the Tigers, before retiring in 2009.

Monroe began working as a Tigers broadcaster in 2012 and was the lead analyst for Bally Sports Detroit this season. Despite the allegations, Monroe has not publicly addressed them, leaving his return to his role with Bally Sports uncertain. Both the Tigers and the network have stated that they are taking the allegations seriously and will not have further comment on the matter.
