The National Institute of Mental Health is sponsoring a two-day virtual workshop that will bring together researchers, youth advocates, and federal officials to discuss the state of the science on developmental trajectories of gender identity and sexuality. The focus will be on research aimed at promoting mental health for sexual and gender minority youth. This workshop is scheduled for Monday and Tuesday, June 10 and 11.
The session themes will cover topics such as epidemiological and population health studies of developmental trends, social determinants of health that impact mental health outcomes at different levels, and preventive and treatment interventions to ensure healthy futures for all youth.
The workshop is open to the scientific community and the public, free of charge. Associate Professor Dana Prince of the Jack, Joseph and Morton Mandel School of Applied Social Sciences will present on day one (Monday, June 10) during the “Social and Structural Determinants of Health: Community, Culture, and Policies” panel from 1:20 to 3 p.m. EST.
