Claudia Schubert, who has been with Diageo North America for 22 years, has decided to leave her role as president and chief operating officer. She took on this position in 2022 and will officially step down in September 2024. After leaving Diageo, Schubert plans to transition to corporate board service and advisory work.
Debra Crew, the CEO of Diageo, expressed her gratitude towards Schubert for her dedication and exceptional leadership during her time with the company. Crew highlighted Schubert’s role in guiding the North America division through the challenges posed by the Covid-19 pandemic and its aftermath. Schubert initially joined Diageo in 2002 as part of the wine business in California, before transitioning to the spirits division in 2009.
Over the years, Schubert took on various roles within the company, including serving as the general manager of the Continental Europe, Russia & Middle East division in 2015. In 2018, she became the president for US spirits and Canada and eventually joined the executive committee as president in 2022. Sally Grimes, the CEO of Diageo North America, praised Schubert’s strategic mindset and contributions to the business, noting her success in implementing bold transformation plans and driving performance.
Grimes emphasized Schubert’s role in cultivating strong relationships both internally and externally, as well as her passion for the company’s brands and the hospitality industry. Diageo credited Schubert for her instrumental role in acquiring and integrating exciting brands such as Aviation, 21Seeds, Mr Black, and Seedlip. Grimes expressed her gratitude for Schubert’s leadership style, dedication to developing the company’s employees, and overall impact on the business.
