Arizona’s poison control centers are on high alert after an outbreak of cases related to “Diamond Shruumz” products. These products, such as chocolate bars and gummies infused with mushrooms for microdosing, have caused serious health risks like seizures and unconsciousness, leading to hospitalization. The products are available for purchase online and in stores in Arizona.
According to a press release by Banner Health, the Director of the Arizona Poison and Drug Information Center, Steve Dudley, stated that although the products claim to only contain natural ingredients and no scheduled drugs, there is something toxic happening. Similar cases have been reported in states like Nebraska, Utah, and Indiana. The poison control centers are collaborating with the FDA to prevent further illnesses.
Healthcare professionals are being urged to report any cases they treat in the hospital that are related to these products. The Director of the Banner Poison and Drug Information Center in Phoenix, Maureen Roland, emphasized the severity of the effects of these products and advised extreme caution to the public.
