College basketball announcer Dick Vitale announced on social media that he has been diagnosed with cancer in his lymph nodes. A recent biopsy showed that the lymph node is cancerous, and Vitale will undergo surgery next week to treat it. In his post, Vitale expressed gratitude for the support of his family, friends, and ESPN colleagues and stated that he will win this battle.

This is not the first time Vitale has faced cancer, as he has been diagnosed three times before. His previous battles with melanoma and lymphoma, as well as vocal chord cancer, have not stopped him from returning to the broadcast booth. However, these health challenges have required Vitale to take breaks from announcing to focus on treatment.

Despite his health issues, Vitale remains a beloved figure in college basketball. He has been providing color commentary for ESPN since 1979 and is considered one of the most iconic broadcasters in the sport. His induction into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame in 2008 is a testament to his contributions to the game. At 85 years old, Vitale’s determination and passion for basketball continue to inspire fans and colleagues alike.
