Veins and nodules are geological formations that are created when water flows through a rock and minerals crystallize in cracks and empty spaces within the rock. These features were previously observed by the Perseverance rover during its exploration of sedimentary rocks in the western fan, specifically during the “Fan Front Campaign” at Hogwallow Flats. However, these features have been few and far between in the margin unit.

In contrast, the rocks in Bright Angel exhibit an abundance of veins and nodules, making them stand out. The presence of these features in such quantities is remarkable and warrants further investigation. We are eager to gather more data on these interesting geological formations in the coming weeks, as they could indicate significant water-rock interactions at this location.
