Abigail Disney has called for President Biden to withdraw from the 2024 race. She announced that she is discontinuing her donations to the Democratic Party until Biden decides to step down. This stance comes after Netflix cofounder Reed Hastings also suggested that Biden should not run for re-election.
Disney, a long-time Democratic donor, believes that the stakes are too high for Biden to continue his presidency. She stated that while Biden is a good man who has served his country well, she is certain that the Democrats will lose if he remains in office. She fears dire consequences if the Democrats do not replace Biden at the top of the ticket.
In the 2024 election cycle, Disney has donated over $50,000 to left-leaning political groups, according to Federal Election Commission records. Hastings, another major Democratic contributor, also expressed the need for a new Democratic leader to defeat Trump and ensure the country’s safety and prosperity.
Biden’s recent debate performance against former President Donald Trump has raised concerns among some influential members of Hollywood. With calls for him to step aside and make way for a stronger Democratic candidate, Biden has acknowledged the need for more rest and earlier events in his schedule.
