Jessica Culver, a doctoral student in the College of Education and Health Professions Adult and Lifelong Learning program, has been chosen as a member of the 2024 Grosvenor Teacher Fellowship. This program is a collaboration between National Geographic and Lindblad Expeditions, with a cohort of 35 members. Culver expressed her gratitude for the opportunity, stating, “I am incredibly appreciative of National Geographic and Lindblad Expeditions providing this opportunity for educators.” She is proud to be selected for the fellowship and is excited to share her learning experiences.
The Grosvenor Teacher Fellowship allows educators to participate in expeditions to various parts of the world, including Antarctica, Alaska, and Patagonia. This year marks the 16th group of fellows who will gain hands-on experience to bring back to their classrooms. Culver’s expedition begins on June 2, traveling along the National Geographic Quest to Sitka, Alaska, and then on to Juneau as part of the “Exploring Alaska’s Coastal Wilderness” Lindblad expedition.
With 21 years of teaching experience in Arkansas public schools, Culver currently teaches high school civics/economics and concurrent college credit history courses in the Ozark School District. She is eager to share her expedition experiences with her students and hopes to grow as a global educator. Culver looks forward to discovering new connections and knowledge for her classroom while exploring a new location for her. As a dedicated educator in Arkansas, she is committed to enhancing her teaching practice in The Natural State.
