An auction that was originally set for June 27 for the Steward Health Care System locations in the Valley has been delayed. This means that those who rely on Steward Health Care System facilities will have to wait longer in limbo for the outcome.

Documents filed in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Texas, where Steward Health is based, show that the auction of the first round of hospitals has been adjourned until further notice. This includes Steward Health locations in Ohio, Pennsylvania, Arkansas, and Louisiana. Among the three local locations included in the auction are Trumbull Regional Medical Center in Warren, Hillside Rehabilitation Hospital in Howland, and Sharon Regional Medical Center.

The delay was made to allow for the evaluation of the bids received on the first round of hospitals to continue, in accordance with bidding procedures with consultation parties. Despite this delay, the hearing scheduled for July 11 to consider approving sales remains on the docket.

This motion comes after Steward Health filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy on May 6. Earlier in the year, First News investigated issues with the company paying rent and fulfilling some loan obligations. The uncertainty caused by these delays further adds to the dilemma for those who are dependent on the services provided by Steward Health Care System locations in the Valley.
