Novant Health recently announced that over 170 employees will be laid off across the Carolinas. The notices disclosed that 90 individuals in Lancaster County and 81 in Winston-Salem will be affected by the permanent layoffs, which are set to take effect on August 25, 2024. These layoffs are a result of the implementation of a new IT model in 2023, which led to the relocation of some of the company’s Digital Products and Services (DPS) functions to an external partner.

As part of their efforts to streamline operations and enhance efficiency, Novant Health is transitioning additional DPS functions to Deloitte Digital. This move is anticipated to reduce the use of other external partners by more than 90%. The company emphasized that these changes are aimed at optimizing resources to support their commitment to improving healthcare outcomes for the people and communities they serve. Some DPS employees may experience modifications in their roles and responsibilities, while other positions will be phased out.

Novant Health assured that employees affected by the layoffs may have opportunities to transition to roles with external partners or secure new positions within the organization. The medical provider, which comprises nearly 40,000 employees spread across 19 inpatient centers and over 850 outpatient facilities, is dedicated to continuing its mission of providing quality healthcare services to its communities.

It was reported that over 150 Charlotte Walmart employees will also be laid off in a separate announcement. 2024 WBTV owns the rights to this content.
