Marcus Maye, a free agent safety, has reached an agreement to join the Dolphins according to Jordan Schultz. Since being cut by the Saints in March, Maye has been without a team. He had signed a three-year, $22.5 million contract with New Orleans in 2022, but was plagued by injuries and suspensions, missing as many games as he played during his two seasons with the team.

The 31-year-old spent the first five years of his career with the Jets after being selected by them in the second round of the 2017 NFL Draft. In 77 career games, Maye has amassed 409 tackles, eight interceptions, 28 passes defensed, five forced fumbles, and 4.5 sacks. His experience and versatility will provide valuable depth to the Dolphins’ secondary.

During the offseason, the Dolphins bolstered their defensive backfield with the additions of cornerback Kendall Fuller and safety Jordan Poyer. With Maye now in the mix, Miami’s secondary is looking stronger and more competitive heading into the upcoming season.
