Dr. Jennifer Baldwin of UConn Health has been named a 2024 Connecticut Hospital Association Healthcare Hero. She is a hospitalist serving as director of hospital medicine, and is recognized for expanding the hospitalist program at UConn Health. Additionally, she created a successful nocturnist program to accommodate increasing evening patient volumes. Her leadership during the peak of the COVID crisis and her commitment to patient safety have earned her this prestigious award.
Baldwin’s nomination highlighted her effectiveness in staffing the hospitalist service, educating residents and medical students, and developing a culture of safety and high reliability at John Dempsey Hospital. The CHA honors exceptional health care workers from each member hospital with the Healthcare Hero Award, recognizing their invaluable contributions to the field and the community at large.
Expressing her gratitude for the award, Baldwin stated, “I am fortunate to work with so many exceptional clinicians at UConn Health who are equally deserving of this award.” She values the dedication and compassion of her colleagues who work tirelessly to improve patients’ experiences and outcomes. Baldwin, a 2004 graduate of the UConn School of Medicine, is dedicated to delivering the highest-quality care to all patients.
