Dusty Baker, World Series champion, to join TBS MLB coverage

Legendary former MLB player and manager Dusty Baker is making his return to broadcasting with TBS. He will be joining the network’s MLB studio coverage primarily for the playoffs but will also make occasional regular-season appearances. This will not be Baker’s first time working with TBS, as he previously had a similar role in 2015. He also worked as an analyst for ESPN during the playoffs in 2006 and ’07.

Baker, who is 75 years old, is a World Series champion in both his playing and managerial careers. He won the World Series as a player in 1981 with the Dodgers and as the manager of the Astros in 2022. The TBS studio show already includes analysts Pedro Martinez, Jimmy Rollins, and Curtis Granderson, with several hosts such as Lauren Shehadi. TBS, which has the broadcast rights to all ALDS and ALCS games this season, is under the Turner Sports / Warner Bros. Discovery umbrella.

A WBD Sports spokesperson was not immediately available for comment on the news. Baker had a long MLB career as a player spanning from 1968 to 1986, playing for the Braves, Dodgers, Giants, and A’s. He made two All-Star appearances and earned a Gold Glove during his playing career. Baker also managed for a total of 26 years between 1993 and 2023, leading the Giants, Cubs, Reds, Nationals, and Astros.
