Dutch Team Constructs Record-Breaking Bicycle Spanning 180 Feet, 11 Inches

A group of eight Dutch engineering enthusiasts recently created the longest bicycle in the world, measuring an incredible 180 feet, 11 inches. This new record beats the previous one set in 2020 by Australian Bernie Ryan, whose bicycle was 155 feet 8 inches long. Despite its massive size, this record-breaking bicycle is entirely rideable, although it may not be practical for everyday use in cities.

The team behind this incredible creation was led by 39-year-old Ivan Schalk, who had been dreaming of breaking this record since childhood. Ivan mentioned that he got the idea from a Guinness World Records book he read as a child, and he has been planning this project for years. The record for the longest bicycle has been broken multiple times over the past 60 years, with previous record holders coming from various countries.

With a background in building carnival floats, Ivan started working on this project in 2018 to occupy his spare time. He gathered a team of volunteers with technical expertise from his village of Prinsenbeek to help him build the gigantic bicycle. Ivan mentioned that Prinsenbeek is known for its volunteers and technical skills, and the team was determined to apply their knowledge to create something extraordinary.

The team’s hard work paid off, and they successfully built a rideable bicycle that now holds the record for the longest in the world. As they continue to innovate and create new projects, Ivan and his team are excited to see what they can achieve next with their technical expertise and dedication.
