Montgomery firefighters responded to a fire at an empty business on Zelda Road early Wednesday morning. According to Montgomery Fire/Rescue, units were dispatched to the 2600 block of Zelda Road on a possible structure fire. Upon arrival, they found smoke and flames coming from a vacant commercial building and quickly declared a 2nd alarm fire. MF/R crews used hand lines and aerial ladder systems to mount a defensive attack and bring the fire under control. Primary and secondary searches of the building were conducted, but no individuals were found inside. Fortunately, there have been no reports of injuries due to the fire.
WSFA located the scene and identified it as the former location of Mrs. Winners Chicken & Biscuits. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation, and no further details are available at this time.
