Edge rusher C.J. Nickson chooses Oklahoma Sooners with 4-star commitment

The Oklahoma Sooners 2025 recruiting class is shaping up nicely as we approach the middle of summer and look ahead to the early signing period in less than six months. After recently securing commitments from two four-star wide receivers, the focus has now shifted to the defensive side of the ball. Four-star defensive end C.J. Nickson has pledged his commitment to the Oklahoma Sooners, choosing them over in-state rivals Oklahoma State.

Nickson is a talented two-sport athlete who will also be playing basketball for the Men’s Hoops squad under coach Porter Moser. Regarded as a top-100 prospect in the 2025 class by ESPN and 247Sports, Nickson is considered the top player in the state of Oklahoma. With impressive athleticism and playmaking skills on the field, Nickson is expected to make a significant impact coming off the edge for the Sooners.

Known for his length, quickness, and agility, Nickson poses a challenge for offensive tackles and possesses the ability to excel as a pass rusher at the college level. In addition to his defensive skills, he has showcased his talents as a wide receiver for Weatherford, accumulating 604 yards and eight touchdowns on 36 receptions in 2023.

The addition of Nickson bolsters a strong defensive front being constructed by Miguel Chavis, adding a playmaker to the edge group. Joining a promising defensive line class that includes fellow recruits Ka’Mori Moore, Trent Wilson, and Alexander Shieldknight, Nickson brings further depth and talent to the Sooners’ defense.
