Elmont school district recently held its annual Science Research Symposium at Gotham Avenue School. The event welcomed community members, families, and members of the administrative team to come and view the students’ research projects. Students from all six buildings in the district participated, showcasing the projects they had been working on twice a week throughout the school year in preparation for the New York State Science and Engineering Fair (NYSSEF) Science Research Competition.

The Science Research Symposium allowed students to share their findings and hard work with others in the community. The event provided a platform for students to demonstrate their knowledge, creativity, and innovation in the field of science. It was a great opportunity for students to engage with peers, families, and other community members who were interested in their research.

Elmont’s science research advisors played a crucial role in guiding and supporting the students throughout the process. On June 3, the students competed in the Thermo-Fischer Division at the NYSSEF Science Research Competition held at Jamaica Avenue School in Plainview. During the competition, Elmont’s sixth graders presented their research projects to judges from different schools across Nassau County. It was a challenging yet rewarding experience for the students, who demonstrated their confidence and dedication to their research projects.
