Enhancing cross-sector collaboration to improve health equity

Join the WHO Global Knowledge Network for Health Equity and the Global Network for Health in All Policies for a webinar exploring Health in All Policies (HiAP) and its potential for advancing equity across various sectors. The webinar aims to provide insights into HiAP and how it can lead to comprehensive action on health equity. Participants will also have the opportunity to learn about the WHO Sustainable Multisectoral Collaboration Based on Health in All Policies Approaches guidance document and its utility in implementing HiAP. Additionally, stakeholders and countries with experience in developing and implementing HiAP initiatives will share their insights and experiences.

The target audience for this webinar includes government officials and stakeholders responsible for coordinating actions on social determinants at a national level. The programme will include a welcome and introductions by Etienne Krug, Director of the Department of Social Determinants of Health at WHO, a presentation on Health in All Policies by Nicole Valentine, Programme Manager and Technical Officer at WHO, and a panel discussion and Q&A facilitated by Carmel Williams, Director of the Centre for HiAP Research Translation in Australia.

Examples of HiAP initiatives and their impacts on health equity will be shared by representatives from different countries. Dr. Tipicha Posayanonda from Thailand will discuss the HiAP and Thai School Lunch policy, Gladys Mugambi from Kenya will talk about the integration of Health and Nutrition in Other Sectors, and Ms. Gigja Gunnarsdottir from Iceland will share insights on Wellbeing for All in a Health-Promoting Community. The webinar will conclude with remarks by Sudhvir Singh, Unit Head of Equity and Health at the Department of Social Determinants of Health at WHO.

This webinar presents an opportunity for participants to gain a deeper understanding of Health in All Policies and its potential for promoting equity in various sectors. By hearing from experts and stakeholders with practical experience in implementing HiAP initiatives, attendees can learn valuable insights and strategies for advancing health equity at a national level.
