Enhancing MOSTI’s Science Ecosystem to Cultivate Nobel Laureates

The Science, Technology, and Innovation Minister Chang Lih Kang stated that Malaysia is working towards producing Nobel Prize laureates by enhancing the science ecosystem. The Ministry aims to cultivate experienced young Malaysian scientists who can compete on an international level with Nobel laureates. In order to achieve this goal, MOSTI is focused on ensuring that Malaysia has a vibrant science ecosystem.

One of the initiatives taken by the Academy of Sciences Malaysia (ASM) is organizing various programs to identify potential winners, such as lectures, scientific discussions, and sessions with former Nobel Prize laureates. By providing these opportunities, ASM hopes to nurture talent and pave the way for future Nobel Prize winners from Malaysia.

The Higher Education Ministry, in collaboration with local universities, is also implementing initiatives outlined in the ‘Achieving Excellence in Science – The Nobel Path’ report. These initiatives are designed to encourage Nobel-calibre thinking and foster a culture of innovation and excellence in science.

Chang emphasized MOSTI’s commitment to creating an innovative research environment in Malaysia, with the ultimate goal of establishing the country as a global leader in Science, Technology, and Innovation. By investing in research and development and providing support for young scientists, Malaysia aims to position itself as a hub for groundbreaking scientific discoveries and achievements.
