On Monday night, ESPN made history by winning 13 awards at the 44th Annual Sports Emmy Awards ceremony. This achievement sets a new record for the best sports media by the National Academy of Television Sciences. ESPN has won the Sports Emmy Award a total of 246 times since its qualification 36 years ago. ESPN has surpassed its own record this year, beating its previous record of 11 wins in 1996, which was recorded in 2015 and 2022.
ESPN’s recognition in various categories reflects its commitment to diverse storytelling, quality programming, and innovative excellence. ESPN received recognition in several facilities, including NFL, college football, NHL, and NBA. This win is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the ESPN team.
At Monday night’s event, ESPN received awards in different categories. Among the winners were Personality/Event Analyst Peyton Manning (ESPN2, ESPN+) in the Personality/Event Analyst category, McEnroe vs. McEnroe (ABC, ESPN, ESPN+) in the Digital Innovation category, Betsy & Irv (ESPN+) in the Feature category, and College Games Day: “Jump Around” (ESPN) in the Short Featured category.
Other ESPN winners include Lisa Salters (ESPN, ABC) in the Personality/Reporter category, Welcome to the NHL: 2022 NHL Draft (ESPN+, NHL Network) in the Event Coverage Editing category, Out of the Lines – Without You” (ESPN) in the Editing – Short Form category, E60: “Don’t Forget Blue and Yellow” (ESPN, ESPN+) in the Journalism category, Ryan Clark (ESPN, ESPN2, ABC) in the Personality/Studio Analyst category, and Mike Breen (ABC) in the Personality/play-by-play category.
ESPN also received the Dick Sharp Best Original Screenplay award for “Outside the Short Story Line – Without You” (ESPN) and won in the Live Series category with Monday Night Football (ESPN) and the Studio Show – DailySportsCenter (ESPN) category.
