Longtime college basketball announcer Dick Vitale recently underwent successful surgery to remove cancerous lymph nodes. After sharing on social media that a recent biopsy confirmed the cancer, Vitale had surgery on Friday. This marked his fourth battle with cancer, as he previously fought melanoma, lymphoma, and vocal cord cancer.

The surgery was performed by Dr. Vosler, who removed the cancerous lymph node and surrounding nodes. Vitale is now in recovery in the hospital. Despite his ongoing health challenges, Vitale remains positive and grateful for the support and prayers from his fans and followers.

A beloved figure in the college basketball community, Vitale has been a fixture at ESPN and college hoops for many years. He was the commentator for ESPN’s first college basketball game and was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame in 2008. Vitale hopes to return to calling games this fall, but acknowledges that his recovery from vocal cord cancer treatments will take more time.

Throughout his health battles, Vitale has shown resilience and strength, inspiring many with his positive attitude. Fans and colleagues are rooting for his full recovery, hoping to see him back in the broadcast booth soon.
