Russia has put Estonia’s Prime Minister Kaja Kallas on a wanted list, according to a note on the website of the Moscow Interior Ministry. The specific criminal matter for which Kallas is wanted in Russia has not been disclosed. This marks the first time in history that a search is being conducted for another head of state.

Kallas was in Vienna last week and attended the Opera Ball as a guest of Chancellor Karl Nehammer (ÖVP). Estonia is known for being one of Ukraine’s strongest supporters within the EU against Russia.

It is unclear why Russia has put Kallas on a wanted list, and the lack of details surrounding the criminal matter raises questions about the situation. This development may have diplomatic implications and could impact the relationship between Estonia and Russia. The severity of the situation is heightened by the fact that it involves the leader of a sovereign nation. It remains to be seen how the situation will unfold and what actions Estonia and other countries may take in response.
