Portugal players celebrated their victory after securing a place in the Euro 2024 quarterfinals with a penalty shootout win over Slovenia. Goalkeeper Diogo Costa was the hero as he saved all three penalties he faced, while Portugal converted all three of their attempts to secure the win. They will now face France in the quarterfinals on Friday.

The match between Portugal and Slovenia was a tense affair, with neither team able to score in regulation time or extra time. The game had to be decided by penalty kicks, where Costa’s heroics set Portugal up for victory. Despite a late scare in extra time when Slovenia nearly scored, Portugal held on for the win.

Cristiano Ronaldo had a mixed performance, missing a penalty in extra time but redeeming himself by scoring in the shootout. Ronaldo, who was emotional after missing the crucial penalty, regained his composure to help his team secure the win. The Portugal captain will be key to their chances against France in the next round.

The winner of the Portugal/France match will face either Spain or Germany in the semifinals on July 9 in Munich. Portugal will be looking to build on their current momentum and secure a spot in the final of Euro 2024.
