Eusebio Di Francesco has been named as the new coach of Venezia ahead of the upcoming 2024/25 season. The Italian club, who has just been promoted to Serie A, announced the appointment on Wednesday. Venezia will be making their return to the top-flight league after a three-year absence when the season kicks off in August.
In a statement on their website, Venezia confirmed the news saying, “Venezia FC is pleased to announce the appointment of Eusebio Di Francesco as the coach of the first team. Di Francesco has signed a two-year contract that will keep him with the club until the end of the 2025/26 season.”
Di Francesco has previously managed Roma from 2017-19, leading the team to a third-place finish in the league and a semi-final in the Champions League during his first season in charge. His most recent coaching stint was with Frosinone, where he was unable to prevent the team from being relegated from Serie A in 2024.
The 54-year-old Italian will be taking over from Paolo Vanoli, who helped Venezia secure promotion to Serie A by winning the Serie B play-off final last season after finishing third in the table. Vanoli left Venezia in early June to join Serie A side Torino.
