Ex-Wisconsin QB named to Seattle Seahawks Mount Rushmore in NFL

Former Wisconsin quarterback Russell Wilson was recently named to the NFL’s Mount Rushmore for all-time Seattle Seahawks, alongside notable players like Bobby Wagner, Walter Jones, and Steve Largent. Wilson spent four successful seasons at North Carolina State University before transferring to Wisconsin in 2011. In his only season with the Badgers, he set a school record for career completion percentage and won the Big Ten Quarterback of the Year award.

In the 2012 NFL draft, Wilson was selected by the Seattle Seahawks with the 75th overall pick. He led the team to its first Super Bowl title in 2014 and made another appearance in 2014. Wilson was selected to nine Pro Bowls during his 10 seasons as the Seahawks starting quarterback.

After an impressive tenure in Seattle, Wilson was traded to the Denver Broncos at the start of the 2022-23 season. Despite a strong performance the previous year, the Broncos decided to trade him to the Pittsburgh Steelers, where he will compete for the starting quarterback position with Justin Fields.

Wilson’s success in the playoffs with the Seahawks has solidified his status as one of the NFC West’s top quarterbacks of the 21st century. Now, with the Steelers, he looks to continue adding to his legacy under the guidance of head coach Mike Tomlin.
