Expanded eligibility for VA health care under the PACT Act

Mar 26, 2024

Veterans who have been exposed to toxic substances while serving in the military now have the opportunity to enroll in healthcare services at the VA for a wide range of health issues, thanks to an extension of the PACT Act. Initially focused on veterans exposed to burn pits and Agent Orange, the act has now expanded to include 23 respiratory illnesses and cancer as conditions presumed to be caused by military service. This new coverage is being implemented sooner than expected, which is particularly beneficial for Monroe County, a community that is home to almost 30,000 veterans and former service members.
