The Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT), part of the State University of New York (SUNY), has recently opened a new research center focused on the beauty industry. Named The Beauty Center at FIT, this facility is dedicated to global business strategy and consumer trends in the beauty industry. In collaboration with key players in the beauty industry, such as Cosmoprof North America, the Center aims to be a dynamic hub for research in the field.
The Beauty Center at FIT is an extension of the Cosmetics and Fragrance Marketing and Management (CFMM) graduate and research program at FIT, which will soon celebrate its 25th anniversary. Previous research conducted by the CFMM program has involved extensive field work in various global markets, including Asia, the Middle East/North Africa, and Europe.
Over 450 students have graduated from the CFMM program, which is unique in the United States and highly regarded as the “Think Tank for the Beauty Industry.” The program’s alumni include executives from major beauty companies such as Chanel, Coty, Inc., L’Oréal, and more.
The establishment of The Beauty Center at FIT aims to enhance the program’s ability to predict market trends, identify strategic business opportunities, and continue its successful global research efforts. The Center will provide thought leadership to the beauty industry and contribute to shaping its future.
President of FIT, Joyce F. Brown, expressed pride in establishing The Beauty Center at FIT and highlighted the opportunities it will provide for master’s level students in the CFMM program. Located at 520 Eighth Avenue, near FIT’s Chelsea campus, The Beauty Center at FIT is poised to make a significant impact in the beauty industry through its innovative research and industry partnerships.
